Top 13 Facts About Facial Hair
July 6, 2016Why Is Sunscreen Important?
August 3, 2016Skin can be hard to keep looking beautiful and hydrated all throughout the summer. The heat can abuse our skin in many different ways, including dehydration, burning, and the dryness or heat level in the air.
Because of these reasons, our skin can sometimes look dull in the summer. However, there are ways that you can help to prevent this to happen, keep skin hydrated, and have a lovely glowing complexion!
Firstly, it is important to know the different factors that affect dehydration of the skin.
These include:
- Humidity
- UV radiation
- Taking many showers
- Chlorine
- High temperatures
- Air dryness
- Aggressive cleansing
Secondly, you need to know how to tell if your skin is dehydrated.
- Rough feeling
- Tight feeling
- Redness
- Peeling
- Itching
- Cracks
- Coarse skin
- Thick skin
Lastly, know how to keep your skin hydrated.
- Exfoliate – Exfoliating your face helps with circulation at the same time as removing dead layers of skin. By doing this about 2-3 times a week, you will allow your new skin to come to the top and get rid of the old dry skin on top.
- Moisturize – By moisturizing the skin during the day and at night, you are allowing it to soak up key nutrients and hydration. Do this at least once a day dependent on how much moisture your skin needs.
- Use the right cleansers – Using harsh soaps will dry out your skin much quicker, especially in the summer. They will strip the skin of its extremely important natural oils. Even if you have oily skin, make sure not to overuse harsh cleansers as it will only end up overproducing oils to compensate. Mild, foamy, fragrant free soaps are your best bet.
- Drink water – Drink plenty of water! We all know this, but it is sometimes easy to forget. Hydrating from the inside out is extremely important in the summer months as your body loses much more water through sweating.
- Eat healthy – Keeping a well-balanced diet is just as important as drinking water. Many foods such as fruits and vegetables also carry high amounts of water, vitamins, and minerals that will keep your skin glowing from the inside out.
- Use sunscreen – Protect your skin whenever going outside during a summer day. The more you damage your skin, the more it will dry out and become dull! Using at least SPF 30, and applying at least 15 to 30 minutes before going out in the sun will keep your skin protected and free of burns and dark spots throughout the summer months.
By following all of these steps you will be able to keep your skin hydrated and looking beautiful all summer long!
